Peruvian operator WIN is partnering with Huawei to deploy symmetrical XGSPON technology in Lima, which promises speeds of up to 10Gbps. The technology, which improves fiber optics in residential homes and small businesses, will gradually be rolled out to other network nodes. WIN currently uses GPON technology, which enables speeds of up to 1Gbps. WIN’s commercial vice president, Víctor Jáuregui, said the new technology will drive digital transformation and the challenge now is to massify it. In the third quarter of 2023, WIN ranked third in the local market, with 436,093 users, but experienced the most growth in number of users with 282% annually.
